Explore regional Southern cooking in all its diversity and eccentricity with Brian Jones, chef de cuisine of Atlanta Grill.  Chef Brian Jones’ obsession for regional ingredients and their origins is based in his Southern roots. The Chamblee, Ga. native, who participated in the Golden Onion professional cooking competition earlier this year, grew up cooking alongside his grandmother and aunts, appreciating authentic Southern dishes made from daily harvests of the family gardens. He brings that heritage to his menus, which showcase local and regional produce. This fall Chef Jones has hosted a new series of demonstration cooking classes at The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta (Downtown). For foodies who are also cooking enthusiasts, it's the best of all possible worlds: get treated to a fantastic multi-course meal with beverages pairings while watching one of the city's top talents at work, picking up helpful tips along the way.  The final class in the fall series, Holiday Dining at Chef Brian’s House, will take place on November 15. (The class will be held at Atlanta Grill at The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta (Downtown), not his personal house.) Chef Jones promises to sprinkle the evening with an entertaining dose of Southern lore as he prepares regional specialties. This class features holiday dishes paired with wines from Kuntz Bas winery in Alsace , France. Alsatian wines—dry Rieslings and Gewürztraminers, for example—are an excellent match with holiday foods.
Classes are $75 per person inclusive of taxes and gratuities. Reception is at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7; limit 16. Early reservations are encouraged and may be made by calling Atlanta Grill at (404) 221-6550 or visiting http://www.opentable.com/ and typing “Cooking Class” in the comments section of the reservation form.
