Hood River Distillers, Inc., the largest and oldest importer, producer, bottler, and marketer of distilled spirits in the Northwest, recently announced that Broker’s London Dry Gin is ranked as the fastest growing gin brand in the United States.
“Broker’s Gin’s classic taste has proven time and again that it can rival the biggest players in the category,” said Ronald Dodge, Hood River Distillers president and CEO in a recent press release. “And we are proud to offer consumers a gin with superior quality and an exceptional flavor at an affordable price.” Broker’s Gin has racked up an impressive list of awards since its launch in 1998, including:
  • Gold Medal & Best Buy, 92 Points, "Exceptional," Chicago Beverage Testing Institute (2012)
  • Chairman's Trophy, Extra Dry Martini, Ultimate Cocktail Challenge (2012)
  • Chairman's Trophy, Aviation, Ultimate Cocktail Challenge (2012)
  • Masters Award (Super Premium Category), London Gin Masters (2011)
  • Gold Medal, International Spirits Competition, Germany (2011)
  • Rated 94 Points, Wine Enthusiast (2011)
  • Gold Medal, World Spirits Awards, Austria (2011)
  • Chairman’s Trophy, Ultimate Spirits Challenge (2010)
Broker's Gin is micro-distilled in England using a traditional copper pot still and is based on a 200-year old recipe, recreated by co-founders Martin and Andy Dawson. The raw ingredients are quadruple-distilled pure grain spirit made from English wheat, and ten natural botanicals (herbs, spices and fruit). The botanicals are steeped for 24 hours in the pure grain spirit, which is then distilled for a fifth time.  A hang tag on the bottle boasts that it's the world's best gin. It certainly is the world's best-dressed gin: The black cap is shaped like a bowler hat, like what might be worn by distinguished English gentleman.  A recent taste taste revealed that Broker's Gin is very aromatic, with forward citrus notes. It's crisp on the palate with a clean mouthfeel and lively citrus notes followed by complex spices and herbs. Delicious sipped on its own, it's a cocktail-friendly gin that makes a great gin and tonic. Bottom Line: Thumbs up.
