We welcomed 2013 with this bottle of Schramsberg Brut Rosé 2008. I hope it's a sign of what the year ahead holds, since this wine proved to be delicious.
This flavorful sparkler is complex and dry. It was yummy sipped on its own and also paired well with our dinner of sea scallops and sides. This wine is made of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. The Pinot Noir is grown in Carneros, Anderson Valley, and the Sonoma and Marin coastal areas. The pink color comes from the fact that some of the Pinot Noir grapes are fermented in contact with their skins. Ripe raspberry and green apple notes leap out of the glass while pear, orange blossom and grapefruit flavors and aromas follow behind. Bottom Line: Thumbs up. And, since it's a sparkling wine, pinkies out.
